Milestone notes

01: The project was started with a 3 month preliminary investigation and exploration phase, while recruitment was still taking place. The formal six month work cycles ("Stages") were therefore started April 1st 2005. Many key milestones were planned to coincide with the work planning cycle, and so have been slipped by three months. The first cycle plan, and the TAP meeting approving it, were completed before the start of the first formal cycle.

02: The VOTECH Science Framework Document (SFD) was delayed while the science advisory structure for Euro-VO overall was set up. Version 1.0 of the SFD was released Oct 2007.

03: It was originally envisaged that full consortium meetings would be held once a year, with a Board meeting during or immediately after the full consortium meeting. In fact full open consortium meetings are held twice a year as part of the work planning cycle (the DSRP meetings), and formal Board meetings are held as required to take policy decisions. As of December 2006, we have decided to merge TAP and Board meetings, and hold these two weeks after each DSRP meeting.

04: "Demonstration events" have been held within a Euro-VO context, by demonstrations of progress to the Euro-VO Science Advisory Committee (VO-SAC). The first of these was held in Garching, April 27-28 2006, and the second in Frascati, November 22nd.

05: These two reports are in draft form at the time of writing (December 2006) and are expected to be complete by the end of January 2007.

06: This was not a full consortium meeting, as these are now held twice yearly (the DSRP meetings).

07: At the time of writing these milestones are on track and expected for completion by March 2007.

Note on Funding time-table

The modalities of further payments are closely linked to the reporting cycle:

Jan 2006: we provide a report on P1 (2005). On approval of the report, we get pre-financing of 80% of P2 (2006) and 40% of P3, paid within 45 days of approval of the report, that is, about March 2006. Payment will be adjusted in light of over- or under-spend of pre-financing.

Jan 2007: we provide report on P1 + P2 and get the finances audited. On approval of the reports, we get payment to settle the approved payments in P1 and P2 plus pre-financing 80% of P3 (2007) and 40% of P4, paid within 45 days of approval, say March 2007.

Jan 2008: we provide a report on P3 (as for P1, i.e. no audit) and, following approval, get the last bit of pre-payment (80% of P4) in about March 2008.

Jan 2009: we provide final report, including audited reports on P3 + P4, and get final payment to settle approved costs.
