The DS3 Stage 3 Plan is based upon the presentations and discussions at the Sorrento meeting.

Stage 3 Task List

Description of Tasks

1. ASR (AstroGrid)

• Refactor ACR to allow deployment on server (aka Astro Server Runtime or ASR). Server deployments can be very lightweight containing only that code required for server operations whilst still retaining the ease of use characteristics of ACR

2. Native A(S)CR access to standard data interfaces (AstroGrid)

• Specifically:
  • SIAP
  • SLAP
  • STAP (time series data)

3. Server-side cross matching capability (AstroGrid)

• Provision of server-side, VO enabled cross matcher based on STILTS component

4. Extend DSA (AstroGrid)

• Create a "family" of components comprising:
  • DSA/SIAP
  • DSA/SLAP
  • DSA/SkyNode
  • DSA/STAP
  • DSA extensions in support of Data Mining applications

5. Single Sign On (AstroGrid, ESO)

• Reference implementation
• SSO requirements for Archive, investigate:
  • need MyProxy management (cf PURSE)
  • needs to be more modular - user database already exists in ESO
  • Need SAML authorization?

6. VOSpace (AstroGrid, ESO)

• Work on specification (Draft in time for May IVOA interop)
  • Links
  • Containers
  • How to Register….
• Create Reference Implementation
• Write prototype VOSpace interface for NGAS

7. UWS (AstroGrid, ESO)

• Continue work to reach consensus on UWS
• Continue with CEA/Application schema work to be included in Registry v1.0 schema in IVOA Registry WG “tiger team”.
  • Parameter definition extensions
• Prototype commandline CEC to use WS-Resource and WS-Notify in order to be UWS compliant.
  • Multi execution sessions.
• Collaborate with DS4 to try to make user tools UWS compliant where appropriate.

8. Reference server-side “R” implementation (based on ASR/UWS) (AstroGrid)

9. IAU preparation (All as appropriate)

10. Catalogue aggregating function (AstroGrid)

• Investigate practicality and utility of enhancing entries from coarse grained registries to make them suitable for fine grained registry use

11. WS Basic Profile (CDS)

• Finalized for Victoria Interop

12. Workflow (CDS)

• Continue the work and report
• Collect feedback about use cases
• Provide new use cases
• Continue the collaboration about the usage of Grids and report to VOTech
• Support to other VO-TECH partners and other interested parties to test and use JLOW, e.g. interface with AstroGrid workflows, collaboration with INAF

13. VizieR ADQL-Skynode (CDS)

• Prepare propositions for the next step (all VizieR as SkyNode)
  • Identify all the evolutions needed in the different IVOA VOQL documents
  • Develop a prototype to improve viability
  • Continue collaboration with ESAC on this topic

14. DS3-DS6 : PLASTIC (CDS, All)

• Consolidate developments in Aladin
• Support of new messages
